What is yoga?
The word yoga comes from Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. It is a derivation of the word yuj, which means yoking, as in a team of oxen. In contemporary practice, this is often interpreted as meaning union. Yoga is said to be for the purpose of uniting the mind, body, and spirit.
The kind of yoga we practice:
Scaravelli Yoga is simple and gentle, working with the fundamentals of the breath, gravity and release of the spine. Using these fundamentals it works from the ground up, observing our contact with the ground as a foundation stone for everything else we do higher up. It works quite naturally with the body’s own structure and function, releasing us from stiffnesses and habitual patterns of tension.
What is meditation?
Meditation is being simple means being ourselves. It means passing beyond self consciousness, self analysis and self rejection.
What is the purpose of meditation?
"The all-important aim in Christian meditation is to allow God’s mysterious and silent presence within us to become more and more not only a reality, but the reality which gives meaning, shape and purpose to everything we do, to everything we are..." John Main
What are the classes like?
